Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Requirements
Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)

  • Completion of community college or two-year college program in expanded functions dental assistant (EFDA) or:
  • Have at least 75 hours at graduation from a CODA accredited dental hygiene program or:
  • Equivalent state certification program showing that at least 200 hours of didactic and clinical from CODA certified program and:
  • Apply for expanded functions dental assistant certificate from Pennsylvania state board of dentistry
  • Passing score on Pennsylvania board approved written dental exam

Radiography Requirements

  • Passing score on DANB radiation health and safety exam
  • Complete application with Pennsylvania state board of dentistry for radiation authorization
