Expanded Duties Dental Assisting Requirements
Title: Dental Assistant qualified in coronal polishing
Dental Assistants in Nebraska may perform coronal polishing procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist if they meet the following requirements:

  • Graduate from a CODA accredited dental assisting program which included a coronal polishing course OR
  • Complete 1 year – at least 1500 hours – of work experience as a dental assistant AND complete a board approved course in coronal polishing procedures

Radiography Requirements

  • Complete a 2 day course approved by the Nebraska Board of Dentistry and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure OR
  • Pass the DANB Certified Dental Assistant Exam (CDA) OR
  • Complete a CODA approved dental assisting course which provides training in dental radiography.
