In order to perform coronal polishing procedures under the direct supervision of a dentist, dental assistants in the state of Arizona must hold a certificate in coronal polishing. In order to obtain a certificate in coronal polishing, the dental assistant must:

Pass the DANB coronal polish exam

Have a licensed dentist/coronal polishing educator complete, sign, and notarize an Arizona Coronal Polishing Clinical Skills Affidavit

Radiography Requirements

Dental Assistant with certificate in radiologic proficiency
Dental assistants in the state of Arizona must hold a board approved certificate in radiology in order to legally perform dental radiographic procedures and operate x-ray equipment. In order to obtain an Arizona board approved certificate in radiology, the dental assistant must:

Pass the national DANB Radiation Health and Safety exam (RHS exam) OR be licensed/certified for dental radiography in another jurisdiction that requires successful completion of written exams
Receive their Arizona Radiologic Proficiency Certificate – sent after completion of the national DANB radiation health and safety (RHS) exam
